I saw this movie the other day. I loved it. I almost passed it up because those Siskel and Ebert or Ebert and Roper or whatever they are now both agreed that it wasn’t good. Luckily for me, if I want to see a movie, who cares what the critics think.
The movie stars Dennis Quaid and we ALL love Dennis Quaid, especially after Day After Tomorrow. It also stars Forrest Whitaker who never disappoints.
The plots a pretty simple one: A presidential assassination as seen from different people’s perspectives.
The “vantage point” gimmick has been done before but I still found myself sitting on the edge of my seat screaming at the screen and isn’t that REALLY why we go to the movies? to be entertained? if only for a moment?
Its loud, there are wonderful explosions, shootings, car chases, cute girls (namely Zoe Saldana), hot boys (Matthew Fox, Edgar Ramirez, Eduardo Noriega and Saïd Taghmaoui), great special effects and good music.
No this movie will not be nominated for any Academy Awards but if you’re looking for some Saturday night entertainment, its definitely worth a rent, a download, a purchase, a view.
Four stars (Rhonda recommended)
